Anita and her two children interrupted the perpetrator strangling Champaben. While the two children safely fled to get help, Anita was stabbed multiple times in the back with scissors. Both Anita and Champaben were doused in gasoline and lit on fire. Anita died of smoke inhalation trying to escape the house. Jatin Patel, Anita's brother, is considered a suspect. Relative allege that Jatin killed killed his mother and sister because Champaben was planning on cutting off his inheritance. No one has been charged with the crime.
