A fire in an unlicensed boarding house led to the smoke inhalation deaths of 40-year-old Fitsum Kebede and 9-year-old Yafet Solomen. The landlord, James Walker, was indicted for charges of second-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and 41 criminal fire and housing code violations.
