On December 15, 1994, 79-year-old Paul Williams was killed in a house fire at this home after a space heater ignited a stuffed chair. His neighbor from across the street, JD Arkle, went to the home and smelled smoke. He then noticed Williams' house was on fire. He tried to get Williams out but could not get through the smoke. He yelled for Williams to get out of the house, to which he did, but he went back in to get his pants, and when he did he was overcome with smoke and knocked unconscious. Firefighters on scene found Williams in his kitchen, and took him to the hospital where he died later that same day. Home was rebuilt after the fire.
