Elderly woman murdered, apartment set ablaze: Hazel Lloyd, 94, was found dead in Apt. 104 after the building went up in smoke and flames. It was later disclosed by police the fire started in her apartment, lit by someone after the elderly woman had already suffered fatal blunt-force trauma injuries.



Medicine Hat police search for motive after Hazel Lloyd, 94, beaten, apartment set ablaze

Police revealed Friday they believe a recent fire inside a Medicine Hat apartment was deliberately set to conceal the killing of the 94-year-old woman who lived there. Medicine Hat police said an autopsy has determined the woman died of multiple blunt force injuries prior to the Aug. 29 fire in her apartment suite in the 200 block of 1st Street N.E.
