On September 23, 2007, Rochelle MANGUINAO (A.K.A – Ziggy PECSON) had attended the Plush Lounge at 100 - 205 9 Avenue SE for a birthday party. At approximately 2:05 hours, MANGUINAO was taken outside by a group of males and an argument ensued. During the argument, MANGUINAO was attacked by the unknown suspects and was fatally stabbed by one of the attackers. Ziggy was a local DJ. The Plush Lounge has since been closed.

Frank Dwayne Blomme, 55, was found suffering from a gunshot wound and later died inside this northeast Calgary apartment building .Police were called to Valley Side Apartments at 322 1 Avenue N.E. at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday, August 7th 2016, for a check on welfare and have ruled his death a homicide. Brian Black Kettle worked in construction in Cold Lake, but took a trip to Calgary to visit his children. Not long after his arrival, the father of five died in hospital on July 27, 2014. Police say a man struck Black Kettle in an “unprovoked attack” at a downtown park and left him unconscious.
