62-year-old Earl Eugene Rogers was robbed and suffocated to death inside this home January 20, 1995. He was killed by 19-year-old John Charles Manis, who was also accused of robbing and killing another man, 48-year-old James David Hatch on January 7, 1995. Rogers was found dead with his hands and feet bound behind him and his mouth gagged. Manis was arrested shortly after, and he admitted to the murders. It is believed Manis robbed his victims so he had money to fuel his meth addiction. Manis would enter the homes of his victims by offering to mow the lawn, or asking to use the phone. Manis was also present at the homicide of another person, 53-year-old Joseph Ferguson, his roommate, on December 3, 1989, but was not arrested for the murder.
