51-year-old William Webb was shot and killed in his home and his friend 43-year-old Martha Scott was abducted from the home on January 7, 2002 by Scott's ex-boyfriend 43-year-old Rodney Talbert. Talbert and Scott had numerous domestic issues, and Talbert had threatened Scott's life only a few days before, leading to Scott staying with her friend William Webb. But on January 7, Talbert broke into the home and shot and killed Webb through a closed door, and kidnapped Scott at gunpoint, before going on the run. Scott was able to escape from Talbert a few days later, and approached a deputy at a convenience store telling him that she escaped Talbert and that Talbert shot and killed Webb. Scott was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Talbert was finally arrested on or around January 22, 2002, after police found him hiding in the back of a chicken coop. Something interesting to note about Talbert was his acquittal from first-degree murder charges in the death of his 17-year-old girlfriend Donna Fisher and her grandmother Evelyn Bennett in 1985. Talbert was in his mid 20's at the time. It's suspected Talbert strangled the two women to death, but the jury believed he was innocent and acquitted him of all charges.
