26-year-old KyAndre Ellis was shot and killed and his brother 21-year-old Timothy McDowell was critically injured in a fatal robbery that took place on November 3, 2011. McDowell testified that on that night, two men dressed in all black and armed with guns broke into the apartment that Ellis and McDowell were staying at, and attempted to rob the victims. McDowell was shot 5 times, and Ellis was shot 3 times. 56-year-old Richard Mayne, who owned the apartment Ellis and McDowell were at, was identified as a suspect but let go. Mayne nonfatally stabbed his roommate in the same apartment in 2009. The case currently remains unsolved.
