The house looked nothing like it looks now. I was just a rental, with only 2 floors inhabited. We would be sitting downstairs in the living room and hear, continually, something heavy being pulled across the floor upstairs. None of the residents were upstairs whenever this happened. Other times, at night, we would hear heavy footsteps on the stairs. The first time this happened, I was alone, and my roommates were about 5 doors away, on 5th Street. I was baking and had the stereo on with the volu… View Listing »

In January 19, 2006, Dean Commanda stabbed his best friend, Chad Largy to death. He then dismembered his body in his apartment bathroom, leaving two of Largy's arms in a dumpster to be found by a homeless man who was looking for bottles. The man found one of the arms and went to a nearby apartment to tell it's resident what he had discovered and to get the police to the scene. Another arm was found in the dumpster by police. Eventually, police got a warrant for Commanda's unit (214) after findin… View Listing »

An affidavit filed by police states officers believed the couple and their five-year-old grandson, Nathan O’Brien, were “likely murdered” within hours of the investigation. The disappearance of O’Brien sparked the longest Amber Alert in Canadian history. Officers noticed blood on the stairs leading up to second floor, including blood in both upstairs bedrooms. In addition, Sweet noted none of the victims had yet been located or had checked into hospital. View Listing »

Richard (Ricky) Barkhouse went out with his girlfriend and some friends to celebrate his new life in Calgary: the couple was expecting their first child, they had just found the perfect home for their growing family and Barkhouse had gotten a new job. Drew Gregory Martineau and Simon Yuen — two men with ties to the FOB gang — got in an argument with the Nova Scotia native outside The Roadhouse bar on Jan. 23, 2006 and stabbed him to death. Both men pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of manslau… View Listing »

Brian Black Kettle worked in construction in Cold Lake, but took a trip to Calgary to visit his children. Not long after his arrival, the father of five died in hospital on July 27, 2014. Police say a man struck Black Kettle in an “unprovoked attack” at a downtown park and left him unconscious. Both men knew each other and alcohol played a role in the incident, according to investigators. Paramedics tried to save the 35-year-old but he succumbed to his injuries in hospital. An autopsy showed he … View Listing »

* Please note that since the information on Housecreep is user-submitted, coverage varies greatly from location to location. The number of properties listed for a city is not a complete representation of how many stigmatized properties may actually exist there. The more traffic we receive from different parts of the world, the more submissions and contributors we get for that particular location. If you would like to see better coverage in your area, here's how you can help support us.
