This house has been owned by the same people for a while. Though there has been some sketchy paranormal stuff going on. There has been arrests in this house the reasons still to be unknown. And the paranormal stuff has happened at night when family members would stay and say they have seen a man outside looking at them from the window. Giggles of children have been heard from the basement of the house at night. Sinister looking figures have seen walking into rooms. 

The oldest part of the Devereaux Mansion dates back to 1857 when it was built by William C Stanes, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who traveled to Salt Lake City from England with the first pioneer groups. It changed hands several times over the next few years and was almost destroyed by fire in 1979. Since then it has been renovated and opened as a restaurant and wedding venue. It is also said to be incredibly haunted. There are at least two ghosts who call the Devereaux Mansion home. The first is a young girl who has a particular affinity for playing tricks on the kitchen staff. She is also known to wave at people at night. The second spirit is thought to be either the former lady of the house or a head housekeeper. In contrast to the cheerful little girl, she is said to be far more aggressive towards visitors although it is believed that she believes she is simply protecting the mansion from misuse!

This household was known as the suicide house. Many reports of suicide occurred, every time someone new would move in they would talk about something sinister going on and then a couple days later police would show up to find the dead body of the main resident.  

On September 3rd at 1414 hrs, Humboldt Bay Fire was dispatched to a reported Structure Fire at the 5100 block of Woodland Way. Humboldt Bay Fire responded with 3 Engines, 1 Truck, and 1 Battalion Chief. The first arriving unit reported a single story residential structure fully involved with fire showing through the roof. A second alarm was requested and Humboldt Bay Fire units began to attack the fire. There was no threat to other structures or the wildland and the fire was knocked down in ½ hour. While extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered a deceased adult male in a rear bedroom. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and Humboldt County Coroner were requested to the scene.

Humboldt Bay Fire units remained on scene for another 4 hours to completely extinguish the fire, conduct the fire investigation, and assist the Humboldt County Coroner. There were no firefighter injuries and the structure sustained heavy fire damage with an estimated loss of $350,000. The fire investigation could not determine the exact cause of the fire, but the fire was accidental in nature.

On May 11, 1992, the body of 20-year-old Jennifer D. Judd was found in her residence. She has been stabbed to death.

A Governor's Reward is being offered in the amount of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime.

Investigators from the homicide unit have taken over a stabbing investigation that has left one female dead and a second female with critical injuries. 
On Sunday, March 12, 2023, at approximately 4:00 a.m., members of East Division responded to an address on Simcoe Street, Oshawa for reports of an armed person. Police arrived on scene and located two adult females suffering from stab wounds.  Both females were transported to Toronto-area trauma centres where one has succumbed to her injuries.   The second female remains in stable condition. 
Katie KAINZ age 26, is the sixth victim of homicide in Durham Region in 2023.  Suspect information is not available. At this time this appears to be an isolated incident. 
Investigators are asking for anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam and home surveillance, to please contact police.

Henry Siwiak was shot and died outside of the rowhouse at this residence. The homicide remains unsolved.  He has been described as "the last person killed in New York on 9/11".

Siwiak was a Polish immigrant, who worked in New York City and would send his earning back to his wife and children in Poland. On the day of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the construction site Siwiak was working at closed down. Siwiak couldn't afford to wait until work resumed. A Polish employment agency offered him a job to clean a supermarket starting that night. 

While using public transport to get to his new job, Siwiak got lost, ending up in a dangerous part of the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood. At around 11:40 pm, witnesses heard an argument and a gunshot. Siwiak had been shot in the lung at the north end of Albany. He staggered up the steps of this rowhouse and rang the doorbell for help, but the residents were too afraid to answer. Siwiak then went down the stoop and collapsed on the street.

18-year-old Jose Espinoza-Villanueva used a lighter to set clothes on fire in his mother's closet because he was upset with his family. The resulting two-alarm fire damaged 16 units and displaced tenants at the Flint at 290 Apartments complex. Two firefighters needed medical attention due to the event.

Espinoza-Villanueva has been charged with arson.

Police conducting a welfare-check discovered the bodies of an entire family in their home.  57-year-old Peter Ventricelli had shot his 58-year-old wife Kellie and their 15-year-old son Anthony to death with a handgun before turning the weapon on himself. 

Ryan Carter Poston, an American attorney from Fort Mitchell, Kentucky, was shot to death by his on-again off-again girlfriend Shayna Michelle Hubers. 

On October 12, 2012, Hubers called 9-1-1 to report that she killed Poston in his Highland Heights condominium. Hubers shot Poston six times, but she continually maintained that the killing was in self-defense. That night, during her interrogation, she alleged that her relationship with Poston had been abusive. Although she was read her Miranda rights, Hubers voluntarily spoke to police. When explaining the details of their relationship, she described Poston as "very vain" and that she "gave him the nose job he always wanted." She made statements that could be considered inappropriate under the circumstances, such as, "I don't know if anyone will ever want to marry me if they know that I killed a boyfriend in self-defense." After being left alone in the interrogation room for several hours, Hubers began pacing, dancing around the room, and singing "Amazing Grace". She also said aloud, "I did it. Yes, I did it. I can't believe I did that" and, "I'm so good at acting." Hubers was arrested for murder and was held on a $5 million bond.

After a trial in the Campbell County circuit court, Hubers was convicted of murder on April 23, 2015. She was sentenced to 40 years in the Kentucky Department of Corrections on August 14, 2015, with parole eligibility after 34 years. On August 25, 2016, Hubers’s conviction was overturned on appeal when one of the jurors in her murder trial was revealed to be a convicted felon. Hubers was convicted of murder during her second trial on August 28, 2018. On October 18, 2018 she was sentenced to life imprisonment with parole eligibility after 20 years.
