Two Nepean brothers now orphans after parents die in murder-suicide: A 12-YEAR-OLD Nepean boy awoke to find both his parents dead yesterday morning in the aftermath of a shocking murder-suicide. The boy and his 14-year-old brother, both now orphans, appear to have slept through a violent argument that ended when their father shot their mother twice with a hunting rifle and then took his own life. Twelve-year-old Kevin MacDonald called 911 just before 8 a.m. after finding his mother, Brenda MacDonald, 52, shot twice in her second-floor bedroom. He then found his 51-year-old father Bruce in a first-floor office with a rifle wound to his head.

Will always remember Brenda as my best friend from University of Guelph. We kept in touch in later years. I did know there were issues in her latest marriage. Her husband was truly "unbalanced" mentally. Never thought he would go to the extreme of committing a murder/suicide. Bruce, her husband, was truly a "coward" in the end. He had no capability of handling the truth of a failed relationship and could not handle taking the responsibility of his share of the blame. My friend, Brenda, never deserved dying because of his mental disability. But she did and I will miss her forever.

My daughter went to school with the older boy, David. It was the week of their graduation from middle school. David chose to go to school for the graduation dance. My daughter and the school friends have kept in touch over the years. He is doing ok.
