Bainbridge man killed; wife charged with murder Franklin's medical office in Middlefield read: "Due to an emergency, Dr. His wife, Sandra Franklin, 57, told police she stabbed him in self-defense. from the Franklins' home in the 9400 block of Stafford Road in Bainbridge Township. Authorities said Franklin was stabbed once in the chest with a 12-inch chopping knife. Bainbridge firefighters took him to Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, where doctors pronounced him dead at 8:30 p.m. "She called the police after the accident -- the incident -- with her husband," her attorney, Gerald Gold, said during the hearing. He was about 7 inches taller than she and weighed more than 200 pounds. When asked if police had responded to the home before for past issues, Bainbridge Township Police Chief James Jimison said, "The family was known to us. Peter Franklin's home and medical office were raided in February. The affidavit was written by Agent George Pavlich of the state pharmacy board and Sgt. He often specified to his patients that his prescriptions should be filled by a specific pharmacy in Warren, according to the affidavit. Sandra Franklin also was listed in the affidavit as his wife, trustee and office manager. Sandra Franklin is quoted in the affidavit as writing this in an e-mail to her husband and another physician in California: "I would leave except that our business is so profitable, and will become even more so as the economy further weakens. Seeing the police cars there (Sunday night) was not a big surprise, but to see the yellow crime tape was. I didn't know a lot about them," Whewell said. "We are horribly saddened that something like this has happened. "I just talked to her a month ago," he said. "He was a very thorough doctor," he said. He was a very happy guy.
