One of the former homes of the infamous "Shoe Fetish Slayer", Jerry Brudos, who was an American serial killer. Between 1968 and 1969, Brudos bludgeoned and strangled four young women: Linda Slawson, 19, Karen Sprinker, 18, Jan Susan Whitney, 23, and Linda Salee, 22. Three of whom were murdered in the Salem area. After murdering the women, he would hang their bodies up the garage, where he would dress them up in different undergarments and shoes, photograph them, and have sex with them post-mortem. Salee's and Sprinker's bodies were recovered from the Long Tom River near Monroe. Whitney's body was found in the Willamette River. Slawson's body was not recovered, but Brudos confessed to disposing it in the Willamette River, throwing it from the Wilsonville Bridge off Interstate 5.
