Quoted from original police record: Child shot to death: Crittle, Joseph - Age 12 - Colored - Shot to death at 9:30 PM, 12/20/27 in the basement of his home, 630 O'Brien St. accidentally, by another 12 year old playmate, Steve Taylor, with an old Winchester rifle. On 12/22/27 Taylor was exonerated by the Coroner. 16 Dist.

After a little bit of digging, I’m thinking this most likely happened in Skokie.

There’s no record of this happening in Tinley Park. There is an O’Brien Ct in Orland Hills. Orland Hills used to be park of Tinley Park… but that street and the houses on it were built in 1985-1986. On Historic Aerials there are no houses on that site unless it’s referring to another street that used to be in Tinley Park.
