Warren White was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Amanda Power, 29, whose torso was discovered near their Warbury Street apartment. White, 36, also pleaded guilty to a charge of committing an indignity to a human body. White and Power had had an argument, with White accusing her of being unfaithful. He had thought she was pregnant, but learned that was not the case. Power allegedly threw a lamp at White, who then reached for her neck and strangled her with his bare hands. Then, White took Power's body to the bathtub, where he dismembered her body. White disposed of her body in a suitcase, a hockey bag, two backpacks and a freezer. Children playing on Warbury Street in June 2008 found Power's remains in a suitcase near the house where the couple lived. White was arrested several hours after police began their investigation. White threw Power's limbs, which have never been recovered, into the Waterford River. The house was demolished after it had been damaged by an unrelated fire.
