47-year-old Mary Escue was shot and killed by 14-year-old Joshua Mooney on December 17, 2012, after Escue accidentally walked in during a burglary. The home being burglarized was Escue's parent's home, and Escue was visiting from Reno, Nevada for the holidays. Mooney was burglarizing the house while it was empty, but Escue came home during the burglary and so Mooney pointed his rifle at Escue and forced her into the family office room. Mooney then shot Escue once in the head, killing her. Escue's body was discovered by her parents, who came home a short while after Escue. Mooney stole Escue's car but was later arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
