Janitorial Worker Bayron Rodriguez, 33, was shot and killed at random while on the job at his apartment complex in April. Manager Jane Hall, 56, was also killed. The two were responding to a report of smoke in the complex when a random man opened fire on them, “for no reason whatsoever from what we can tell.” The shooter, 26 year old Davion Wilkes, who had walked on a 2018 second-degree murder charge in Kansas due to some uncooperative witnesses, didn’t live at the complex. Wilkes reportedly did not know Hall or Rodriguez. Investigators were working Thursday to determine at what point Wilkes came across Hall and Rodriguez and how that interaction occurred, Watkins said. Hall and Rodriguez were heading to a part of the apartment complex where someone had reported an odor of something burning and possibly some smoke, though nothing burning was found or recovered.
