reported events that occurred at 3885 Central Avenue on October 1st, 1975

Unsolved murder of Al Jackson Jr., drummer for Stax artists Booker T and the MG's. There had been a domestic incident a couple of months earlier that resulted in Al getting shot in the chest by his wife; however he recovered from this. On the night of the murder, his estranged wife was found in front of the home with her hands tied, screaming for help. Al was dead on the floor. No suspect has ever been identified or arrested. The story was that she was ambushed in her house by an unknown man and that Al surprised him while he was in the house. Robbery appeared to be the motive as some property was taken. There are people who think that Al was murdered for his involvement in lawsuits against Stax. Others think that his wife had it up to here and enlisted a boyfriend of a friend to kill Al and make it look like a robbery.
