17-year-old Phazon Scott fatally shot 40-year-old Michael Lewis on November 17, 2017. Police say the two got into an argument at a Tulsa home. During the argument, Scott pulled out a gun and shot and killed Lewis in the living room. Lewis was the father of Scott's half-sister. Scott was later arrested and pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter.
On May 12, 1987, Janora Stevens, 35 years old, was found dead in her home, 3390 S 137th E Ave, by her teenage son returning home. She was stabbed 27 times. She had been alone at the home at the time of her death. Police investigated a 19-year-old man named Quentin Barnes, who was living with his sister Victoria nextdoor to Stevens at the time of Stevens murder. It wasn't until January of 1994 he was charged with first-degree murder. New forensic technology allowed investigators to look at fibers on a jacket, which gave enough evidence for a first-degree murder charge against Barnes. During a taped interrogation, Barnes told detectives that his sister Victoria had committed the murder. This was false as Victoria was determined to have had an alibi, and it was found that Barnes broke into his next-door neighbor's house to rob it, encountered Stevens in the home, and tried to sexually assault her, but stabbed her to death when she fought back. Barnes was found guilty of first-degree murder and given a sentence of life in prison without possibility of parole.
