Tony Butterfield, 31, and Katherine Butterfield, 30, were shot and killed at their home by Albert Enoch Johnson, 31, after he had earlier in the same night broken into their home and attempted to rob them at gunpoint. Prosecutors say a masked Johnson forced the couple from their bed and demanded money before eventually leaving with just $20 and a pair of cellphones. Johnson returned to the house once he realized that he had left his car keys there. Tony Butterfield recognized Johnson and asked him “why?” before trying to prevent him from reentering. Butterfield stabbed Johnson, prompting him to fatally shoot both Butterfields as their children were upstairs.
