Around 7:30 p.m. on August 21, 2016, officers found the bodies of Lana Ellsbury, 34, and Dustin Grisham, 41, inside a home in the 2900 block of South 111th East Avenue. Both had been shot multiple times, and there was evidence of forced entry into the residence. Several hours later, the suspect in the double homicide, Marlow Barnes AKA Marlow Alexander was found shot to death in the yard of a Tulsa home, around 2:35 AM August 22, 2016. Barnes had been romantically involved with Ellsbury. Investigators believe Barnes died after committing a rash of violent crimes, beginning with shooting Ellsbury and Grisham inside the east Tulsa home. After leaving the house, Barnes reportedly shot a woman he used to date 5 times, stole her car and set it on fire. The woman survived her injuries luckily. Later that night, Barnes allegedly took three people hostage and drove them to the home on Hartford Avenue, where he ordered them out of the vehicle. The victims fought Barnes for his gun, Walker said, and he was shot in the struggle, and died on the front lawn. Police say the shooting of Barnes was self defense.
