August 25th, 1930
Ransom Miller Wilkison and about 40 other young socialites were attending a party at 2873 Glengary Rd. to celebrate the engagement of Andrew Jackson Duncan III to Thalia Reese Fuller. After midnight, three armed robbers crashed the party. Unsucessful at cowing the crowd into giving up valuables (most thought it was all a bad joke), the three attempted to leave. Four guests confronted the robbers on the lawn, shots were fired, and Wilkison was shot in the head and died on the front lawn. Four persons were eventually imprisoned for the crime.
