What Happened at 25 Cromwell Street?

    The infamous "House of Horrors". The home of serial killer husband and wife, Fred and Rose West. This is where the majority of the remains of the women they murdered were found. Five victims were murdered and buried in the cellar between November 1973 and April 1975. They were Carol Ann Cooper, 15, Lucy Partington, 21, Thérèse Siegenthaler, 21, Shirley Hubbard, 15, and Juanita Mott, 18. The floor of the basement was eventually cemented over by Fred West. In addition to the remains found in the cellar, the bodies of Shirley Robinson, 18, Alison Chambers, 16, one of the Wests' daughters, Heather West, 16, were found in the garden or under the patio. The body of Lynda Gough, 19, was found in an inspection pit beneath the garage, which was later converted into a bathroom. After police arrested the couple in 1994, the body of Charmaine West, 8, Fred's stepdaughter, was exhumed from an earlier residence of the Wests' at 25 Midland Road. Fred West also confessed to the murders of Anne McFall, 18, whose body was found in Fingerpost Field, Much Marcle, as well as Mary Bastholm, 15, whose body is believed to have been buried in Bishop's Cleeve. The home on Cromwell Street was demolished in October 1996.
