On January 29, 1987, 26-year-old John R. White was stabbed 8 times in the chest and killed in an apartment at 2419 E 5th St. A co-worker from a janitorial service job, 39-year-old O. Z. Lazenby was arrested and charged in his death. The killing happened after an apparent dispute over keys.
