Former site of W.T. Edwards Tuberculosis Hospital, later converted to Sunland Training Center for the mentally and physically disabled. Sunland was notorious for its lack of sanitation, ill-trained staff, and dubious treatment - according to Weird Florida, the chain of hospitals was one of the first in the nation to use electroshock therapy on its patients. After a class action lawsuit by the Association of Retarded Citizens and the discovery of deadly asbestos in the building, Sunland Hospital was officially shut down in 1983. The abandoned property was a hotspot of paranormal activity from cold spots to the sounds of children running down the hallways to the lights flickering on long after the electricity to the building had been shut off. The hospital was demolished in 2006 and Victoria Grand Apartments took over the former property, but residents still report paranormal activity.
