January 11th, 1999
David Mark Temple, a popular local football coach, murdered his wife, Belinda Tracie Temple (nicknamed "Sunshine Girl"), 30. She was eight months pregnant at the time, and the couple were the parents to a 3-year-old boy. When Belinda became pregnant with their second child, David was not thrilled and criticized her weight gain. On New Year's Weekend, David claimed he was going on a hunting trip, but instead, was spending the weekend with Heather Scott, who he had been having an affair with for three months. Scott tried to break off the affair on January 5, and Temple seemed to agree at the time, but days later, expressed his love for Scott. Days later, Belinda was shot to death. Belinda was found in an upstairs closet. She had been shot in the back of the head with a shotgun. Her husband, an Alief high school football coach, was taken in for questioning that night, however, he wasn't charged with the murder until 2004.
