8-year-old Najia Boone was accidentally shot in the head when her and her older brother were playing with a .22 caliber pistol that her brother had found the day before at a relative's home. Najia died in the hospital two days later due to her injuries on February 3rd, 2009. Najia's cousin, 18-year-old Tevin Jackson was later charged with owning the gun illegally, he faced up to 5 years in prison, however he ended up receiving 3 years probation.
