The mother of a 19-month-old child that died from blunt force trauma has been charged with murder. The child’s mother, Crystal Laurel, and Dustin Rybak, who is not the child’s father, were arrested following the death of Takota Hasty. Laurel and Rybak were previously arraigned on felony charges of involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and child endangering. Lauren appeared via video arraignment today on a an added charge of murder. The case against Lauren and Rybak will next be presented to a grand jury for review. Charges against both suspects will be presented together since they are co-defendants. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office ruled that his death was a homicide and that he died from blunt force trauma to the head.
