73-year-old Donna Jo Stauffer was drowned to death inside her home on October 11, 2005 by 64-year-old newspaper carrier Paul Williford. Stauffer lived alone and Williford targeted her for this reason. It was originally thought Stauffer died of natural causes as she was found in her bathtub which was filled with water. But a couple weeks later Williford was arrested for attempting to kill another elderly woman that lived alone, and when he was arrested he confessed to the murder of Stauffer, and another woman 75-year-old Geraldine Lawhorn, who also lived alone, in September of 2005. He was sentenced to life without parole.
