57-year-old Edwin Thornton died in a house fire on December 8, 2013, around 3AM. There were 3 people inside the house at the time, including Thornton. The other two were able to make it out but Thornton did not. Firefighters found Thornton in a closet behind the front door. Investigators believe Thornton thought the closet was the front door, and went in it, but was overcome by the smoke and passed out. He later died after being pulled out of the house.
