Gregory Zolper, 34, was stabbed to death by Noel Palomo, 20, on July 8, 1990. Zolper went to Palomo's apartment while drunk, and confronted him over Palomo allegedly sexually assaulting an underaged girl. The two got into a fight in the stairway or hallway of the apartment, and Zolper started swinging a tire jack at Palomo. Palomo pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed Zolper. At trial, Palomo was found innocent of the murder and self-defense was cited. He was, however, still charged for second-degree sexual assault.
