Michael Woodmansee was a 16-year-old loner when he sexually abused and murdered his neighbor, 5-year-old Jason Foreman at Woodmansee's 40 Schaeffer St., Peacedale, home in 1975. He kept it a secret - and the boy's body wrapped in a trunk in the basement, with some of his bones cleaned and covered with shellac in his bedroom - for years. In 1982, when he was accused of trying to strangle a 14-year-old Peacedale paperboy he had lured into his house, police charged him with both crimes. Woodmansee took a plea agreement, and in 1983 was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder of Foreman, with 10 years suspended with probation, and 10 years, concurrent with the 40-year sentence, for assault on the 14-year-old boy. Due to Rhode Island laws governing credit for good behavior, Woodmansee was released in 2011, after serving 28 years. He was then voluntarily committed to a Rhode Island state mental hospital, where he resides today (2018).
